A Personal Note From John About ETF Investing
A personal note from John Nyaradi, Publisher of Wall Street Sector Selector, Your home for ETF Investing!
Dear ETF Investor:
Hi, I’m John Nyaradi, Publisher of Wall Street Sector Selector, Your home for ETF Investing, and author of Super Sectors: How to Outsmart the Market Using Sector Rotation and ETFs.
The internet is an impersonal place for people interested in ETF investing and so I want you to know a little more about me than what’s included in a standard biography.
I haven’t always been a “finance or stock market expert” or specialist in ETF investing. In fact, I’m probably a lot more like you than I am like the other pundits, experts and analysts you might find across the digital investing world.
I bought my first stock way back in 1974 and since then have learned how to participate in the world of ETF investing and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) by paying some painful tuition in the form of losses and mistakes that are common to all investors as they navigate the complicated waters of the stock market and investment world.
For many years, I followed Wall Street’s “conventional wisdom” of buy and hold, diversifying, dollar cost averaging, and investing for the long term. And, frankly, the results were less than satisfying, as I lost money during the recession of 1981-82 and then again during the dot.com bust in 2000. Even during the “good times,” a lot of time seemed to be spent getting back to even instead of getting ahead.
So it took me from 1974 until 2000 (call me a slow learner) to figure out that the conventional wisdom was wrong.
But since that time, I have worked very hard and made a huge investment in developing what I think is a better way to invest.
Over the years, I have become proficient in both technical and fundamental analysis and I’ve developed methodologies and rules designed to help everyday investors like you and me avoid the devastating bite of bear markets and be able to seek out profits in both up and down markets.
I am not a trader but could best be described as a tactical investor, one willing to take managed risks and to deploy assets in a tactical fashion to take advantage of today’s rapidly changing conditions.
I believe that the ”old world” of buy and hold is gone forever but that enormous opportunities still exist in any market in which we may find ourselves if you approach it with a disciplined plan and solid risk management.
After our health and our families, our money and financial security and quality of life are near the top of our priorities and I’m honored to be able to work with people like you to get as much out of our money and our lives as we possibly can.
I hope you enjoy and find value in the pages of Wall Street Sector Selector and I would be honored to work with you as a member of our special group of ETF investors.
All the best,
