MS, ONXX, RAX, TQNT Among Charts to Watch

The stock market had a mixed day on Thursday, but Nasdaq forged ahead. A lot of stocks that we follow had a good day, so we’ll take a look at some of those.

Mistras Group, Inc. (MG) continues to look great. On Thursday it popped 1.62 to 22.10, or 7.9%, on 355,000 shares traded. That’s not a bad volume for this stock. The line of resistance was taken out with a thrust and it may get to 24 short-term. An intermediate-term based on a long-term pattern should get it up to the 26 – 27 zone, if not higher, which would be an all-time new high for this stock.

Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ONXX) has been quite interesting the last couple days, in particular in the morning on Thursday. It reversed sharply, and broke out, up another 1.35 to 35.86, or 4%, on 3 million shares traded. The volume has been strong the last few days as it broke out across key resistance. Look for a test around the July highs up around 38 short-term, and beyond that, look for something in the low to mid 40s.

Rackspace Hosting, Inc (RAX) jumped 1.02, or 4%, on 2.5 million shares traded on Thursday. Goldman Sachs (GS) put out a buy on it that it took it to key resistance. It may test 42 short-term as the next target on it, and then the spike high in August at 46 intermediate term.

TriQuint Semiconductor, Inc. (TQNT), after a website reported that their chips are being used in Apple's new iPhone 4S, spiked 1.46 to 7.39, or 25%, on 22.5 million shares traded on Thursday. That broke it out across the declining topsline and 50-day moving average. It may be setting up for the 81/4 – 81/2 range short-term that it hit back in August and September. There’s a gap up in that range that could get it up as high as 10 on a secondary basis.
