IBD50 Report: June 15th 2011(and IBD50 portfolio)

The IBD50 had only two rising stocks today, losing 1.83% on the day (SPY:-1.78%).  The winners were JAZZ +3.65%, CMG +0.19%.  Biggest losers were APKT -6.27%, MELI -5.07% and BIDU -4.79%.  MELI and BIDU did well yesterday but gave back much of what they gained today.

JAZZ was the only IBD50 newcomer to gain today and has done yeoman’s work this week gaining 6.69% since Monday’s open.  Notably, today’s gain came on heavy upside volume.  Newbie losers were VMW -3.79%, FTNT -2.53%, DV -2.22%.

We talk about the ups and downs of the IBD50 every day but our top-10 IBD50 portfolio has put in an interesting performance since the correction started around the beginning of May:

On the 29th of April, the portfolio stood at $62,486.  Today it’s at $55,983, for an overall sell-off of 10.41%.  However, two-thirds of that loss had happened by May 4th.  As you can see by the equity graphic, since then, the path has been down but it hasn’t exactly been precipitous.  Interesting.  I’m looking for significant gains from this model portfolio once the correction comes to an end.
