Solar Shares Slide; Fresh Worries On European Subsidy Cuts
Solar stocks are heading lower across the board this morning following an alarming earnings warning after the close yesterday by thin-film solar provider Energy Conversion Devices (ENER). As I noted in a post yesterday, the company asserted that recent subsidy reductions in Italy and France have "injected disruptive uncertainty into the markets," causing financing sources "to put projects on hold." ENER said the issue could hit as much as half f the revenue it had expected for the March quarter.
